The context

Stan Wawrinka was working with La Vaudoise on a campaign, and BuzzBrothers had designed its entire social media side. The project came shortly after Covid, at a time when Instagram filters had become a real habit: a way to play and share without going anywhere.

My role

Within the campaign, I was given the Instagram filter. I designed and developed it: the game mechanic, the head-movement tracking, and the rendering that let players see themselves play.

What it changed

The filter was shared 3 million times. For La Vaudoise, the campaign no longer just showed Stan Wawrinka: it let people play against him, and every game became content they posted themselves.

What was delivered

An augmented reality Instagram filter driven by head movements. Players see their own face at the top of the screen and return the ball by turning their head. The longer the rally, the faster the ball; after a miss, it virtually shatters the screen. Every game can be shared directly.

What remains

A simple game mechanic, understood in a second, beats a technical feat that needs explaining. Here, everything came down to one gesture — turning your head — and one rule — the ball speeds up. And when failing is funny, people share it as much as winning.
